Cambridge Aerodrome Clubhouse and Hangars (Google Earth)

This picture from Google Earth shows the location of the clubhouse and hangars. Since the picture was taken the area formerly used for helicopter parking has been subdivided and sold. A large warehouse is currently being built on the subdivided land.

The area now provided for helicopter parking is drastically reduced and has an impact on where aircraft can safely be parked.

All pilots, including any visitors, must be fully aware of the limitations in the space available for taxiing and parking as well as the potential damage from helicopter downwash if parking close to the helicopter area.

All aircraft parked next to the helicopter area must be tied down if there are any helicopter operations proposed during the time when the aircraft is parked there. If in doubt, tie it down. Tie downs are provided.

We recommend that visiting aircraft park over in the Par Avion area (to the East) in order to avoid congestion in the limited space around the clubhouse and possible  damage from helicopter downwash, disturbed grit, stones and dust.

All personnel entering the movement area are restricted from entering the helicopter area unless specifically authorised to do so by the duty flight instructor or duty club officer.

In general, there should be no need at all to venture into the helicopter area.

The ACST clubhouse

The clubhouse was built during the second world war and was for a time the terminal building for the airport.

We took it over about 10 years ago, have adapted it slightly internally and built a deck. It has a pleasant friendly atmosphere but is somewhat limited in its suitability for a flying school due to lack of space and small room sizes. Unfortunately it can not be easily modified due to the presence of some asbestos so we just have to work with what we've got.

As well as running the flying school, the building is used for club meetings and functions.

Each sunday the bar is open from 4pm for a get together. All are welcome.

On competition days there is usually a barbecue held at the same time. From time to time, we organise special events such as "Jazz on the deck" with lunch, shown here.
