10 Years In Our Clubhouse

This month marks the 10th year since "we went it alone" at our current location. It's also (almost) the winter solstice so this Sunday at 4.00pm onwards we will be having informal drinks and nibbles (as well as a bbq) to celebrate.

All are welcome. For catering purposes, please notify the club (6248 5370) if you plan to attend.

The cost will be  $5 for food.   We hope you can make it!.

From the President.

Not a lot of news at this time. There will be a followup newsletter later this month.

The weather in the latter half of May has been a bit better. We had a very successful two days with the Air Force Cadets last weekend when the aircraft were all kept busy on both days. We were very lucky to have had two days of almost perfect weather.

Club Open Day - Change of Date

Having had a run of good weather over the last week, according to the forecast it is set to blow again for the coming weekend. It is not looking good at all!

From past experience, holding the open day on a day when there is little prospect of flying means that the public turnout will not be very good and there is little or no income from flying, gate charges or barbecue to offset the cost of running the day. For this reason the considered judgement of the instructors and executive has been to once again postpone the day until a weekend looks like it is going to have reasonable weather.

We will keep a close eye on the weather over the next three or four weeks. June is usually fairly settled so hopefully we will manage to get a date set for this month and will let you all know. I know it is far from perfect to have an event like this left hanging but as it is primarily for the club to publicise itself and promote TIFs and flying on the day there is little point holding it if conditions are not reasonable, especially as it costs quite a lot to advertise and promote it.
